GAME 1 vs Lady Gamblers (San Diego, CA) @ 12:15pm

GAME 2 vs So Cal Mayhem (Simi Valley, CA) @ 3:15pm

GAME 3 vs Power Surge (La Jolla, CA) @ 4:45pm

We will meet promptly at Cooks Park at 10:30
Please be on time as we have to check the team in and reserve a spot to warm-up. We advise arriving even sooner, as parking appears to be an issue at this venue.
Also, make sure we have a copy of your birth certificate no later than Thursday's practice.

Upcoming Tournament

We are tentatively entered in the TCS Red, White and Blue Fastpitch 2009 tournament. It is located in Laguna Niguel and the surrounding areas.
The tournament dates are June 27th-28th.
We will be facing experienced ASA, club and travel teams. This will give us an indicator of what to expect in All-Stars should we advance into sectionals and beyond.
It is IMPERATIVE that the entire team show up on time to all of the practices, going forward (Tues & Thurs 6pm-8pm). If you are going to be late, please notify one of the coaches by phone. If you need a ride to practice, let the coaches know at least 2 hours before practice begins. We will be happy to pick you up.

TOC Champs!

Congratulations to the Storm for winning district 46 Tournament of Champions! This is the 5th straight year that Loara has claimed the district championship. Our ladies were solid at the plate and were defensive-minded the entire game. The final score was 15-4.
This win caps off a great regular season where the we went UNDEFEATED for the 2009.

With only 2 games remaining before we play TOC District championship, we are happy to announce that we are still undefeated. Let's remain focused and finish the season strong. The coaching staff is very pleased with how the girls have played all season. We are not having luck finding a tournament that will take a little league team. Many of the tournament directors have stated that they can lose eligibility if they play a non-ASA team. We are looking to setup or participate in "friendlies" but finding teams to play may be difficult. If you know of any girls that play ASA or travelball in our age group, ask for their coaches info so we can reach out to them and setup a practice game. Hopefully we can take this momentum into All-Stars and make some noise!

UCLA Super Regionals this Sat and Sun

The NCAA Super Regional matchup between #2 UCLA and Missouri will begin on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at Easton Stadium. The best 2-of-3 series will continue on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

We were considering taking a group of girls from our team to watch Softball being played at its highest level. If you and your daughter are interested in going to a game, please let me know so I can round up the ticket information.

Most of our girls have not seen softball played at this level before. I think it will be inspiring to the girls who are looking to play in high school and beyond and maybe even help them understand the intensity needed to play in the upcoming All-Star tournaments.

Storm is now 5-0

The Storm had another strong outing last night on our home field under the lights. We faced Hawaiian Gardens and they came to swing the bats. Our infield defense was solid as usual but we had a couple of errors in the outfield which we'll need to correct. Some highlights were a grand slam by Alyssa, a double play by Taylah tagging the runner and throwing to first. We also had a homerun by Marissa and good speed down the line by Rachael. Kiersti was solid on the rubber, and we were able to get an inning out of Marissa and Taylah. Coach Dave was aggressive with the base runners, and we got out at the plate a couple of times, but we want to work on stealing home when we have the lead. See you at Sunday practice!

Wow - What a great start - Undefeated after 4 games - I just want to focus on game three for a moment - I couldn’t be prouder of a team than I am of this one - It was a great spectator game - This was a very important come from behind win - because it was against Pioneer Metro's better pitcher - because we came from behind, - because of superb baserunning - because of superb defense - This game was the epitomy of a team victory - a lot of players contributed the little things that turned out huge…..As you can see however - there is still room for improvement on the offensive side……we will continue to concentrate on hitting - again, as I've said before - anytime you are able to get your daughter a session at the cages please do - It is very important the girls develop the no fear attitude - I can assure you we will need it once the competition stiffens, especially in all stars and tournament play…….We also will be looking to ensure each girl is able to play a minimum of two positions to give us additional flexability when it comes to line up changes…...To all of you who were able to attend, I can assure you it means a lot to your daughter's.

Loara Storm is now 3-0

Thanks to a spectacular defensive outing, the girls managed to come back from a 3-0 deficit going into the 3rd inning. The ladies swung the bats well, and we managed to squeak some runs across to take the 4-3 lead. The defense buckled down and the team prevailed. Awesome win!

The Storm defeated the Bobby Sox 22-0! The aggressive hitting and good base running helped the team to an overwhelming victory. Our next home game is Saturday March 21st, against Metro Pioneer. Please arrive to the field at noon to begin warmups.

Every so often this season, team manager Jim Saenz expresses his thoughts to the parents and players...
Just a note to give you a summary of our progress after a couple of weeks of practice - Myself, Dave, and Brian continue to be especially pleased the girls are coming to practice focused on becoming the best team they can possibly be….for me they remind me of all star practices - everyone seems intent on performing well…..As the girls start to become settled in on softball drills, their individual skills are emerging and we are becoming very optimistic that we will have a very competitive team….the biggest advantage was the girls all knew each other ….. The chemistry was automatic - Our defense is shapping up nicely - even with a little more dust to brush off, the signs of flash are showing - I sense these girls will be a determined bunch and will unconditionally have each others' back…..we have shifted some of our concentration on hitting and again are becoming more and more optimistic - we have some hitters on this team! - I really feel we will be able to give anybody a game and all of our opponents will have their hands full………I really feel Dave and Brian are running practices very effectively - they work really well as a team - and most importantly they keep the girls busy - the drills vary - and if we are as successful as I believe we will be, a lot of the credit should go to them…….I am asking Kiersti, Marrissa, and Taylah to begain throwing daily - I currently have Kiersti on her fourth consecutive day at least 15-20 minutes a day - pitching is 95% repetition - and this is the one position that will be an easy tell as to whether they are getting their practice - Kiersti and Marissa were obviously rusty last Saturday - With repeated practice and proper warm-ups they will be ready for regular season - I will continue working on a more one-on-one basis to ensure the concentration level is there… ~Jim

2008 Junior League World Series Champs

They are from our region (Little League West) and hail from Oro Valley, AZ.
They faced the returning champion Latin America Team, and won the game with late inning runs, 10-4
Let these girls be an inspiration to our team, and know that we can achieve too!

Girls, this is JUNIOR softball. We are in the big time now. Please make sure you come to every practice with all of the appropriate attire and gear. You should always have your glove, and ALWAYS be ready to slide. Having a bat you are comfortable with is always good practice. If you don't have one yet, just ask to borrow one of your teammates and be respectful of their property.

Uniforms selected

The new uniforms have been selected. They will be navy jerseys along with matching navy pants. The trim colors will be gray and white. It should go well with the team name and logo. The navy pants are special ordered, so let's be sure the girls have the appropriate sizes selected. The coaches decided to go with a more "intimidating" look as the girls are older now and the competition is getting fierce!
